Grouse, Pheasant, Partridge, Mixed Shooting and Deer Stalking

The Scottish Borders is justifiably recognised as one of the premiere locations for sporting shooting within the UK.  The sport available is wide and varied, with some of the renowned local shoots providing high, testing pheasants and partridges from drives whose names are well known throughout all of the shooting world, as well as an extensive range of species which adds great variety and excitement to 'mixed' and 'knock-about' days.

The hotel sits right in the centre of all of this and an 8.30am departure after a leisurely breakfast will see you in ample time for the first drive, whether this be for grouse in the Lammermuirs or partridges and pheasants from the northern edge of the Cheviots.  Equally important, the Hotel is run by people who enjoy the sport themselves, so they know exactly what you need to complement your shooting enjoyment.  As well as excellent gun and drying rooms your party can, if desired, have exclusive use of private rooms to have pre-dinner drinks and dinner itself.  These provide an excellent opportunity to discuss the events of the day!

Many guests have arranged their own shooting but the hotel has excellent relationships with local estates and landowners and will gladly put together a package for you if required.  The hotel knows the area extremely well and which estates are best placed to meet your own particular requirements.

There is also an excellent Clay Pigeon Shooting Ground nearby where you can 'sharpen up' in preparation for your game shooting or simply have some fun.  This is open all year round but the chart below shows the main types of game shooting available in the region and which we may be able to assist you with.
